The Art And Science Of Leading
Technical Staff
ABOUT THE COURSE
"The Art and Science of Leading Technical Staff" is a solid, one half-day course which presents some key concepts on how to survive (and thrive) as a technical staff supervisor. In the modern work environment, many diverse groups of people with widely varying skills sets are drawn together (either physically or electronically) to solve problems, provide services, and create and produce high tech products. In many circumstances, these teams are composed of scientists, engineers, computer programmers, and other “geeks” or “nerds” who are more often than not being lead by non-technical supervisors. These non-technical supervisors often do not realize that the technically-oriented labor force responds to different types of leadership styles and has different types of motivators. In other words, these supervisors don’t speak “geekanese” and therefore may fail in their attempts to lead these highly focused technical teams, or do not lead them to their true potential. Our instructors are “certified geek” technical degrees and combined successes and failures in civilian, military, and technical leadership roles. This course will give you an introduction to some of the realities of technical leadership, and provide you some survival tools, survival skills, and discuss some of the intangible aspects of technical leadership.WHO SHOULD ATTEND
